It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosemary Caine Aycock, 68, of Chelsea, Alabama on August 4, 2023. She was the most beautiful, loving soul who touched the hearts of everyone she knew and even ones she did not know.
Rosemary was born in Selma, Alabama on June 23, 1955. She graduated from Selma High School and attended one year of college at Jefferson State.
Rosemary’s greatest sense of pride and joy was her family. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 38 years, Eric. They married on October 5, 1984. She would tell you those 38 years were the best years of her life, during which she had two beautiful children, Sean and Kristen, who were her whole world.
Rosemary faced many struggles and hardships in her life, but she always handled them with such grace and overcame them. She was the rock that held her family together even though that’s what she said about her husband. She always cared so much about everyone else she barely did anything for herself, but that’s the way she preferred it. Worldly possessions didn’t mean much at all to Rosemary. It made her happy to make others happy. She was the most loving person in the whole world. She cherished love and happiness with others. She made everyone so happy and gave us everything we ever needed or wanted.
Rosemary was so proud to have been a senior secretary for 13 years at Alabama Power Company. She met her husband and soulmate at the water fountain at Miller Steam Plant.
She was a social butterfly. She left her work that she loved so much to stay home with her children when her daughter Kristen was 2 years old. She would tell you she lived vicariously through Kristen. They had a bond like no other. It gave her so much joy to give her children everything she did not have growing up.
Rosemary was always there for everything for her children - every school fieldtrip, as well as all the sports and events that followed. All of her children’s friends loved to come to her house because she made them have so much fun. They often called her their second mom. The only rules she gave were to make good grades and have fun. Her favorite motto was “Be Happy.” She took care of everything so her children could have the best childhoods ever.
Rosemary was Southern Baptist her whole life. The later years, her favorite preacher was Charles Stanley. She watched him any day of the week. She had a lot of his sermons saved to watch again and again. Watching him during First Baptist of Atlanta, Georgia's services was her church. She believed deeply in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and spoke to them often, and she looked forward to one day going home and entering the pearly white gates of heaven and being able to rejoin her mother, sisters, friends, and dear pets that had passed before her.
Rosemary would not even kill a bug in her home. She would try to capture it and release it outside. She would ask, “Who am I to take the life of one of God’s little creatures?” Her favorite signs from God were red birds. She loved red birds (cardinals). She knew in her heart they were her mom coming to visit her and let her know everything’s okay. She said she would come see her family frequently too and watch over them always.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her mother, Kitty Sue Caine; her father, Walter Drury Caine Sr.; and her sisters, Kitty Lee Caine, Alice Caine Sealey, and Ann Caine Cutler.
Survivors include Rosemary's husband, John Eric Aycock; her son, Sean Eric Aycock; her daughter, Kristen Elizabeth Buckley (Alex); her brother, Walter Drury Caine Jr. (Yvonne); her sisters, Priscilla Caine Haggard (Chuck) and Teresa Caine Sparks; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In honor of Rosemary’s life, her family will visit with friends at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 2-3 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance at 3 p.m. The gravesite committal service will be private.
