

Ruth was born in Georgia, but lived her adult life in Birmingham. She was a loving, kind wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a charter member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, where she served actively. She served on the visitation committee for over 40 years, taking flowers to nursing homes and hospitals. She was an excellent student of the Bible and taught Bible stidies doe many years. Her home was always open to visiting pastors and missionaries, where they enjoyed fresh, home-cooked meals. She was a true servant of God.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Neal and Martha Lord; her husband, Charles Taylor Nesbitt; sisters, Virginia Lord Wade and Frances Lord; brothers, Hubert Lord and Lamar Lord; and grandson, Richard Augustus Howle.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Nesbitt (Vassil) Zekoff and Gail Lord (Alan) Howle; grandchildren, Marvin Nathaniel Andrews III, Rachel Andrews Vickery, Christine Rebekah Anella, Taylor Alan Howle, Charles Wilkins Howle, and Christy Culotta Howle; great-grandchildren, Peter Anthony Anella III, Isabella Grace Howle, Grace Elizabeth Vickery, and Scarlett Christina Howle; niece, Dorothy Lord Jones; and nephews, Jim Nesbitt, James Wade. Hugh Lord, Ferney Lord, and Neal Wade.
The family will gather for a private graveside, Rev. Frank Barker officiating. Per Ruth’s request, no flowers, please.
