Ruth Springer

SPRINGER, BABY RUTH, age 76, of The Oaks on Parkwood community in Bessemer, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011. She was a loving and devoted mother of eight children, 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren with one on the way. She also had one brother and five sisters. Ruth was a member of Crosscreek Baptist Church, Pelham, and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Springer; parents, Noble and Annie Mae Gray; daughter, Vickie Springer; and brother, Bob Gray. Survivors include Ruth's four sons, Mick (Valerie) Springer, Rick Springer, Randy (Beverly) Springer, and Keith (Angela) Springer; three daughters, Lynn (Ike) Morrison, Debbie Hall, and Christy (Wendall) Merrell; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ann Peters, Fannie Yarborough, Jean Burdette, Gail Clayton, and Jo Porter. The visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2011 in Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham, with Rev. Mike Byars officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
