He was born in Burnt Corn, AL on October 19, 1938, to the late Samuel and Evelyn Lowrey. Mr. Lowrey graduated from Auburn University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Before retiring, he made his living in home construction as a builder and was a member of the Greater Montgomery Homebuilders Association.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Samuel Graves Lowrey and Evelyn Shelby Lowrey; and his son, Samuel Graves Lowrey III.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 60 years, Judy Holmes Lowrey; two daughters, Lynn Lowrey Patterson (Tom) and Katy Lowrey Sloan (John); daughter-in-law, Kathryn “Sister” Lowrey; six grandchildren, Sara Douglas Lowrey; Lowrey Patterson; Shelby Patterson; John Sloan; Sam Sloan; and Stewart Sloan; and two sisters, Ann Lowrey McMillian and Shelby Lowrey Jones.
Private graveside services will be held at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL.
