Shawn Michael Regan, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2020. Born in Brunswick, Maine, to Lucille P. (Rock) Regan and John J. Regan on July 26, 1963, Shawn moved with his parents and siblings to Orlando, Florida in 1966 and later to Pensacola in 1974. He graduated from Woodham High School in 1981 and went on to attend the University of Florida, Pensacola Junior College, and University of West Florida, majoring in Computers. After college, Shawn moved to Atlanta, GA, where he began his career as a programmer and later advanced to senior software engineer. His excellence in software engineering coupled with his outstanding work ethic and fun-loving personality all contributed to his very successful 30 year career. At the time of his death, Shawn was employed as a Senior Software Engineer at Nuance (formerly Vincari) in Birmingham, Alabama.
It was during a Florida vacation with family in Fort Walton Beach that Shawn met his future wife and soulmate, Elizabeth Riley. Shawn and Elizabeth married and made their home in Marietta, GA during which time their family grew to five including son Adrian, and daughters Carmen and Lily. Missing the beach and family, they later returned to the Florida Panhandle. But, after one too many hurricanes, they relocated to Birmingham, AL in 2007.
A very devoted family man, Shawn was always there to cheer on and support Elizabeth as she developed her career and the kids as they advanced in school, graduated, and began spreading their wings. Always thoughtful, he regularly remembered his Mom and Dad in special ways. We will always remember his wry sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Shawn leaves behind to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 22 years, Elizabeth (Riley) Regan, son Adrian Daniel Regan (Chandler Gayle), daughters Carmen Lucille Regan and Lilliana Isabel Regan, mother Lucille Regan, father John J. Regan and stepmother Jennifer, sister Colleen Regan Mrvica (Steve), brothers John Patrick Regan (Judy) and Kevin Scott Regan, two Boston Terriers, Josie and Henry, and numerous cousins, friends and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life for Shawn will be held at a later date once requirements for social distancing are lifted.
