

Susan was born on August 28, 1949, in Atlanta, GA, and grew up in Columbus, GA. She lived most of her adult life in Birmingham, AL.
Susan graduated from the University of Alabama with honors and inclusion in Phi Beta Kappa and earned her master’s degree at University of Alabama Birmingham. She became a high school English teacher who worked for Birmingham City Schools for over 25 years, primarily at Wenonah High School, until she retired.
She was an avid reader, who also appreciated music, art, and theater. She enjoyed a quiet, contented life, and filled her thoughts with love of family and friends far and wide. She enthusiastically rooted for the Crimson Tide.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen C. Stoller and Richard H. Stoller of Columbus, GA. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Frances E. Raffield, of Atlanta, GA and Sarah K. Powell of Helena, AL; her granddaughter Amelia H. Powell of Helena, AL; and her cousin Janet O’Quinn of Kennesaw, GA.
Visitation will be held November 9, 2024, from 1-3pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
A visitation for Susan will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
