Sylvia, a Phillips High School graduate, retired from BellSouth with 31 years of service. She attended Shades Mountain Independent Church, and her favorite pastimes included spending time with her cats.
Sylvia was predeceased by her mother, Sallie Mitchell; her father, Alva Mitchell; and one sister, Rose Don.
Survivors include Sylvia's husband of 33 years, Lewis Moore; two step-sons, Steve Moore (Pam) and Keith Moore (Dawn); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Naro (Jake Pflasterer) and Kay Umphrey (Tom); two brothers, William Mitchell (Diane) and John Mitchell (Saralyn); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. The Celebration of Sylvia's Life will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham, and burial will follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery.
