Tanis Jay (TJay) Stuman, age 59, of Alabaster, AL, passed away on August 3, 2025. He was born to William Jay and Tana Lynn Stuman on February 16, 1966, in Alabaster, AL. TJay graduated from Shelby Academy in 1984. A man of many talents, he was a Certified Master Plumber, Master HVAC Technician, Medical Gas Fitter, and Master Auto Mechanic. His professional career included dedicated service in facility management at Shelby Hospital for many years, and as a Data Center Technician for Blue Cross Shield of Alabama since 2010.
TJay was a member of Vestavia Hills Lutheran Church. He had a passion for learning and had a wide array of interests, including Computers, Legos, HIstory, especially Biblical HIstory, Alabama Football, all his beloved Dogs, and Music. TJay would jump at the chance to see his favorite band, Kiss, in concert. He brought energy and life to everything he loved.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elizabeth and Charles Stuman, and Francis and Jack Williamson.
TJay is survived by his loving wife, Laura Herbst Stuman; son, Colton (Thomas); parents, William Jay and Tana Stuman; sister, Krista (Shannon); niece and nephew, Kinley and Camden.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Sanctuary Animal Rescue.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service to follow in the Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Burial will conclude at Helena City Cemetery.
