

Born on May 4, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee, Tom was the beloved son of the late Thomas William “Bill” Granger and Gail Grotewiel Granger. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee and later received his MBA from Clemson University. Tom dedicated much of his professional life to Verizon Wireless, from which he retired in 2017.
Following his retirement, Tom found great joy in spending time with his family and traveling. A passionate researcher of genealogy and family history, he was an active member of several heritage organizations, including the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Tom was a faithful member of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover, where he found strength, fellowship, and purpose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Gail Granger, and his sister, Carla Granger Dillard.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Janice Kerr Granger; daughter, Erin Rogers (Dustin) of Opelika, Alabama; son, Thomas “Will” William Granger III (Christy) of Birmingham, Alabama; brother, Scott Granger (Nancy) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and two cherished grandsons, Towner Rogers and David Granger.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Hunter Street Baptist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. After the service, a graveside ceremony will take place at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, Alabama 35124.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tom’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
Tom will be remembered for his love of history, his deep devotion to family, and his unwavering faith in the Lord.
