Thomas Jeffrey MacQueen (Tom) was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 6, 1960 to Annie Maude Bailey MacQueen and Robin Bruce MacQueen. He was the youngest of three siblings, including the eldest, his sister Helen Elizabeth MacQueen and his brother, John Bruce.
Tom graduated from Shades Valley High School and from Samford University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He also attended the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Tom had many interests. He was passionate about cooking, and was always eager to bring a new recipe to family gatherings. His specialty was white hot chocolate, always made with Ghirardelli’s in a specific crockpot used only for that. It was a favorite of all the family and they were always disappointed when it was not on the menu.
Tom was a life-long science fiction fan, an interest he shared with his father and his two siblings. He preferred the classics, especially the original Star Trek and vintage Dr Who.
Tom was an avid reader and was interested in family history and researching his Scottish heritage, an interest he shared with his brother, John.
The most important thing in Tom’s life was his Christian faith. He was an active member of several Baptist churches in the Birmingham area, and was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church when he passed away.
He was a sweet-tempered man who always tried to live a Christ-centered life. While we will miss him, we are so happy he will be with Jesus and his family and friends who have gone before him.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Robin Bruce MacQueen, his mother, Annie Bailey Sharp, his brother, John Bruce MacQueen, his grandparents, Edna Randall Bailey and Cecil C. Bailey, and Gladys MacQueen McElvain and James William MacQueen, MD. He is survived by his sister Helen MacQueen, of Seattle, sister-in-law, Verna MacQueen, of Alabaster, nephew Ian MacQueen and his wife Ashlyn and their daughter Evelynn, of Calera, and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
