Tom played for and was captain of the 1953 Birmingham Southern basketball team and graduated the same year. While attending Birmingham Southern, he was a sports columnist for The Birmingham Post Herald, covering numerous sporting events.
After college graduation, Tom was hired by Connors Steel Company and worked in the sales office for 17 years until beginning his own Mfg. Rep. company in 1971.
An avid baseball fan and wordsmith, he rarely balked on a timely quip or perfect witticism.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Hendon McWilliams Sr. and Fannie Amanda McWilliams. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marion White McWilliams of Indian Springs; one daughter, Tracy Leigh McWilliams of Birmingham; and one son, Thomas Hendon McWilliams lll (Jana) of Birmingham.
Family will welcome friends Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church in Bluff Park at 12 noon with a Memorial Service to follow.
