Tom Allen Welborn, Sr. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 26, 2019. He was born in Clayton, Georgia. He moved to Alabama and raised his children with his wife of 59 years in Chelsea. Tom worked as a superintendent for Brice Building Company for over thirty years. He enjoyed fishing with his best friend/cousin, Buddy Hawkins and coon hunting with his son-in-law, Doug Baswell and numerous family and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Luvenia Welborn, brother, Carl Welborn, Jr., two sisters, Alice and Melba, son, Tom “Allen” Welborn, Jr. and grandson, Christopher Dale Garner.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia “Judy” Hawkins Welborn, daughters, Lisa (Doug) Baswell, Kim (Mark) Hargus, Tamie (Brian) Nolin, Kristen (Steven) Hendricks, sister, Aline Welborn Purdy and eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham from 12 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Funeral Service/Celebration of Life will follow in Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Chelsea at Union Church at Chelsea Park.
