Wanda Reynolds Simon

Wanda Cheryle Reynolds Simon was born on April 17, 19xx (in honor of her wishes we will withhold the exact year of her birth, dearest friends...she is smiling) in Russellville, Alabama. She passed away peacefully on January 14, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Edward Simon; her son, Christopher Reynolds Simon (Jennifer) of Matthews, North Carolina and daughter, Cheryle Elizabeth Simon of Birmingham, Alabama; two precious granddaughters, Elizabeth Reynolds Simon and Anne Thomas Simon; her brother, Douglas Earl Reynolds (Deborah) of Florence, Alabama and three favorite nephews, Robert James Reynolds of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Micah Charles Reynolds of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Jason Douglas Reynolds (Ashley) of Nashville, Tennessee; and one year old great niece whom she was looking forward to spoiling, Vivian Louise Reynolds. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Earl and Jimmie Lou Reynolds.

She was an active member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years. Dawson Church was foundational for her walk with Jesus by providing the leadership, direction, and fellowship necessary to understanding a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Dawson church family has been a lifelong, loving support, and comfort to the family. She was a founding member of the Auxiliary for The Big Oak Ranch and a member of the Board of Visitors for the UAB School of Nursing. She had an indelible heart for serving others.

The family would like to thank the doctors and countless nurses of St. Vincent’s hospital who so lovingly cared for Wanda. Please continue to lift them up in your prayers as they fight to defeat so many illnesses. They truly are heroes.

Due to her passing during this unprecedented time in our world, the family is planning to celebrate her life with a Birthday Reception on April 17th. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to The Big Oak Ranch, UAB School of Nursing, or the charity of your choice.
