

March 25, 1936 - December 13, 2017. William C. Taylor passed away December 13, 2017. He was born in Fairfield, AL to Malcolm William and Ruth Gully Taylor. Bill graduated from Fairfield High School in 1954. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1958 with a B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration. While at the University he was President of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa honorary fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi and Vice President of Jason’s. He was on the Executive Council of the Student Government Association and President of the Cotillion Club. He was listed in Who’s Who Colleges and Universities. After graduation Bill served in the Alabama National Guard. After his service he was employed by Harbison Walker Refractories Co. in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1968 he returned to Birmingham and formed Tasaco, Inc. from which he retired in 1998. Bill was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church for 47 years and had served on the Personnel Committee and Board of Trustees and was a member of Fred Kelley’s Sunday School class. He was also a member of Hoover Country Club (formerly Green Valley CC) for 44 years and The Red Elephant Club. Bill is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 59 years Lois Fortner Taylor, his son Michael Edward Taylor and daughter-in-law Tammy; his pride and joy grandsons, William Michael Taylor and Jacob Matthew Taylor; brother-in-law James E. Fortner (Mary Sue), niece Susan F. Edmonds (Lee), and nephews Joseph R. Fortner (Cynthia) and John W. Fortner and eight great nieces and nephews. Bill’s life will be celebrated on Sunday December 17, 2017 at Shades Crest Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 pm with service following visitation. Burial at Southern Heritage will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Shades Crest Baptist Church Building Fund, 452 Park Ave. Hoover, AL 35226 or The Big Oak Ranch, P.O. Box 507 Springville, AL 35146.
