William “Bill” Lawrence Hand went to be with his Lord and Savior October 11, 2015. Bill was 83 years old and was preceded in death by his father and mother, Melvin and Josephine Hand; his brother, Leonard Hand; and his wife, Sheryl Hand. Bill is survived by his sister, Camille Watts; daughter, Victoria Morgan; son-in-law, Wade Morgan; grandsons, Christopher and William Morgan; and his nieces, Denise Watts, Katherine McCallister; and nephew, Arthur Hand.
Born in Camden, NJ, Bill lived in Washington DC, Falls Church Virginia and finally in Hoover, Alabama. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for C&P Telephone Company and then Bellsouth for 35 years before retiring. Bill enjoyed singing and was an active member of Riverchase United Methodist Church, and sang in the choir each Sunday until he was too ill to attend weekly services. He also volunteered at Aldridge gardens and the botanical gardens.
The celebration of Bill’s life will be at 11am on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
