Elizabeth Ann was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 20th, 1935. Ann graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1953, a member of Theta Kappa Delta Sorority. In 1957, she graduated from Randolph- Macon Women’s College, Lynchburg, Virginia, with a degree in Mathematics. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. After living in Roswell, New Mexico, and Spokane, Washington, Ann and her family settled in Pell City, Alabama, on Logan Martin Lake. Always a lover of nature, she found peace there with her family and God’s creatures. Forty years later, Ann and Larkin moved closer to town and to her church.
A lifelong member of the Episcopal Church and a founding member of St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church in Pell City, Ann devoted a great amount of her life to the Parish. A member of the Vestry for many years, she became the first female Senior Warden. She served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and Lay Reader. As a member of the Episcopal Church Women, she worked as President, Treasurer, a member of the Altar Guild, Sunday School teacher, and speaker on Angels. Whenever a fundraiser was held, “Ann’s Orphans” (recycled dolls and stuffed animals) appeared to help any work of the ECW. Ann also worked with the organization of the Christian Love Pantry and as a volunteer for the next 20 years. She was a charter member of St. Eleanor Chapter, Daughters of the King, and served as President for many years.
Ann was a life member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and member for over 50 years, a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames in America, and The Order of the Crown in America.
Later in life, Ann began writing stories of her life and her dolls. To her delight, some of these stories were published.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Larkin Young Powell; her parents, Charles Theodore Brasfield, Jr. and Martha Lavinia Clements Brasfield; and her two sisters, Martha Wynne Brasfield Bledsoe and Lucy Jane Brasfield Nunnally.
Ann is survived by her children, Charles Allen, Mark Young, and Deborah Wynne; her grandchildren, Mark Alan, Teri, Joe, Martha, and Melanie; and her great grandchildren, Teddy, Andria, Elizabeth Ann, and Sabrina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church, 3702 Mays Bend Road, Pell City AL 35128, or to your favorite charity.

Her remembrance by the family:
Elizabeth Ann “Brassie” Brasfield Powell was a refined old school southern gentle lady who never met a stranger and easily made others feel appreciated and at ease. She was thoughtful, insightful, and a wonderful storyteller. Her unwavering devotion to her family and her church provided guidance and an example to follow during both the good times and the bad . She was a devoted wife, loving mother, true friend of many (including orphaned dolls and teddy bears), and will be dearly missed by all.
