LINCOLN – Barbara Haynes Ludden Ensley passed away peacefully on January 22, 2020, at age 80. She was born on August 9, 1939 in Talladega, Alabama. The middle child of James Walton Haynes and Sarah May Moore Haynes. Barbara married James Mattox in 1956 and graduated from Winterboro High School in 1957. Their young family moved to Northern California in 1959 where she spent the next 46 years. With life’s changes, she later married Robert Richard Ludden in 1977. Barbara enjoyed cooking and with many friends, she loved entertaining and hosting dinner parties. A natural leader, she had an expansive career in banking in various management positions, retiring from Bank of Walnut Creek as Senior Vice-President in 2004. She and Robert “Bob” retired to Alabama in 2005 with plans to travel. She especially held fond memories of cruises they had taken to various ports of call and their many vacations in Hawaii. Sadly, Bob passed away in 2009. In 2010, Barbara found love again and married Richard “Rick” Ensley, Sr. and settled in Lincoln, Alabama. Barbara and Rick are members of Blue Eye Baptist Church in Lincoln. They enjoyed all kinds of music, often singing karaoke together. Known for her feisty personality, her beautiful vibrant red hair and her ever young zest for life, Barbara loved to dance and did so at every opportunity. Other hobbies included making silk flower arrangements, watching old movies and television. Her favorite shows being NCIS and Blue Bloods. She spent hours on her Kindle Tablet exploring the internet, playing word games and shopping on Amazon and QVC. As those who knew her well, she loved buying shoes and had a pair for every outfit. She also thoroughly enjoyed her Alexa, singing and listening to favorite songs. She recently got onto Facebook and learned to text on her phone. She liked staying in contact with family and reconnecting with old friends. This new technology was an exciting awakening. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Rick Ensley, Sr.; sister, Betty Ann Chandler Miller; younger brother, James Walton Haynes, Jr. “Chuffy”; her daughters, Deborah Jean Mattox Gano and Nancy Mattox Hammons; four grandchildren, Brienne Elise Moe Gill, whom she helped raise and loved as a daughter, Justin Gabriel Gano, twins, Jacob Kyle Gano and Dylan James Gano; she was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.
