PELL CITY - Funeral service for Mr. Kenneth Ray Self, 61, will be Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City, with burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time in the chapel. Mr. Self died Monday at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Self is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Laura Self; a sister, Betty Jean Gulledge; two brothers, Billy Wayne Self and James Edgar "Lightning" Self. He is survived by two brothers, Walter Self and Charles Ray Self; two sisters, Ann Self Gulledge and Shirley Faye Rice; special friends, Johnny Thomas (Angie) and Steve Garner (Inise); and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Self was affectionately known as the "Alabama Man" or "Working Man" and was employed at Triple T's Food Mart.
