“Larger Than Life, Loved Beyond Measure”
4/9/1966 – 5/25/2025
The world lost some of its color and rhythm with the passing of Michael Jay Reid, a man whose presence was as bold as his bass licks and as timeless as the comic books he cherished. He departed this life on May 25, 2025, surrounded by the family he adored, the people he loved, and the stories that made him who he was.
Born with rhythm in his soul and a heart the size of the Marvel Universe, Michael was a true original—an unstoppable force of creativity, intelligence, kindness, and charisma. As a gifted musician, he could make a room come alive with a single chord. Whether on stage or strumming in the living room with his wife or grandkids dancing along, music was his love language.
But his passions didn’t stop at music. Michael was a devoted collector, a connoisseur of comic books, action figures, and memorabilia that reflected the wonder and imagination he brought to everyday life. His man cave is a sanctuary of superheroes, a museum of memories, and a testament to the boyish joy he never lost.
A lifelong fan of Marvel, Michael believed in heroes—real and fictional. He saw the extraordinary in the ordinary, and his own brand of heroism was evident in every life he touched. He was a loyal and loving husband, a proud father, and a grandfather whose stories, laughter, and bear hugs will echo through generations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Betty Reid. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 15 years, Cathy Reid, the love of his life and his co-pilot through every adventure, his beloved children Bradley Latham(Judith), Alexander Reid, Heath Graham(Kristine), Haley Sanford(Jerry), and A.J. Bush, his grandchildren Alyssa, Marley, Skylar, Levi, Addie, Logan, Kyran, Jeremiah, Anwynn, Atreju, and Aramis, who knew him not only as “Dad” or “Papa,” but as their biggest fan.
Michael taught us that life is a stage—meant to be played loud, lived fully, and shared generously. He reminded us that it’s never too late to dream, to rock out, or to believe in something greater.
His music may be quiet, but his melody plays on in all of us.
We will always love you 3000 Papa!
