So sorry to hear of the paasing of a classmate from the Canal Zone. We are a small family with a shared time in a land far away and now long ago.

     When you think of Rita, you automatically see her with a smile on her face! Always smiling or laughing about something! Such a jolly person.  Rita loved her family and was always thinking of ways to bring them together and to eat her exceptional cooking.  She was truly one of the best cooks I've ever known.  We celebrated many holidays and any day we could get together enjoying her great dishes.  
     A huge fan of baseball, (and she knew the game well) she raised her son Beau, whom I'm proud to call my son-in-law, playing baseball throughout his years growing up. He too loves the game and has been coaching for over twenty years.  She attended every game she could to watch Thomas, our grandson that we shared together, play his games and of course Beau was coaching.  What fun we had!
     She loved to share her life's adventures with us, especially her teenage years growing up in the Panama Canal where she met and grew to love dearly her stepbrothers Joe and Mark.   Eventually they moved back to Pell City, her hometown with her friends and family.  
     Rita was an awesome, dedicated nurse and worked until her retirement.  She loved her patients dearly.  Always concerned and made sure the newborn babies were ok.
     I will miss her greatly.  She was a great friend whom we all loved who became a part of our family over twenty years ago.  She WAS family!  
     My prayers for all for comfort and peace; allow God to carry you through this time.
     Beau, she loved you so much! You were her world and she loved Thomas beyond words.  She was so proud of you and your family. Cry when you need to, focus on the good memories and laugh and enjoy them.  Memories are God's special gift to us.

I had the pleasure of working with Rita for several years at RMC in Anniston. She always had a smile on her face and was a very sweet person. I always enjoyed working with her. My prayers are with her family during this time.
