Mr. Smith died July 26, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Porterfield Smith and Carlie Currie Smith; brother, James Smith; sisters, Francis Champion, Aileen Dunlap, Ponda Scott, Barbara Patterson; and life partner, Ruth Manning.
He is survived by brother-in-law, Luther J. Scott and a host of nieces & nephews.
He was a graduate of Pell City High School, Jacksonville State University and an Army Veteran.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Robert L. Howard Veterans Home in Pell City.
