William Robert Davis was born in Vincent, Alabama. He graduated from Vincent High School in 1968. He later graduated from the Alabama School of Trades (now part of Gadsden State Community College) earning a degree as a trained diesel mechanic. He worked for Joe Money Machinery in both the Birmingham and Huntsville areas. In 1976 he began working at National Cement Company in Ragland, where he retired after 37 years. He served as an officer in the local union, and he served a short term on the Ragland City Council. His favorite pastime was collecting and working on watches and clocks. He and his wife, Tennie, travelled to watch shows across the South, making many friends along the way. Depending on how you met him you may have known him as Bobby or Robbie. He was always amused when people figured out Bobby Davis was also Robbie Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Tennie Cartee Davis; daughter, Amanda (Jay) Vice; grandson, Sam Vice; sister, Mary Alice Henry; sister, Louise Spruell Simons; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William J (Bill) and Bertha Davis and his brother, James Davis.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Green and the Foothills Family Medicine practice staff for their care. The family is immensely appreciative of the staff at Lakeside Hospice and Touching Hearts at Home sitter service for their kind words, compassionate care, and dedication to providing care to both patients and their family members.
As per his wish, there will not be a visitation service or funeral.
