Donald R. Gray

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday November 10th at 11 AM at the Penn Yan Elks Lodge. The Penn Yan American Legion and the US Navy will provide honors for Don. There will be no calling hours, burial will be private.

Don was born in Warwarsing NY August 12, 1922 to Raymond and Mildred Kinney Gray. He attended school in Warwarsing NY. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy from 1942- 1945. On July 5, 1947 he married Betty J. Cummings. She passed away June 30, 2003.

He was employed for over 30 years as a truck driver for Penn Yan Express. He was a member of the Penn Yan Elks Lodge #1722 for 74 years, the Penn Yan American Legion for 36 years and a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed woodworking, travelling, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen(Daniel) Gavette, Bellona, and Patty(Mark)Gantz, Waterloo. He has six grandchildren, Karlee(Jon) Roberts, Casey(Heather) Gavette, Chad(Megan Seifert) Gray, Brian Gray, Donald (Sarah Perkins) Gantz and Travis Gantz. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, Katie and Tyler Roberts, Gillian and Hadley Gavette and Connor Gray, nieces, nephews, cousins, his friends at Timmy G’s and many extended family members.

Besides his wife, Don is predeceased by a son Rick in 2004 and three brothers, Paul, Carl and Frank.
