Dorothy A. Barry

Dorothy was born in Oswego, NY on March 8th, 1932, the daughter of the late, Anna (Mulcahey) and Donald West. Dorothy worked as a secretary and records keeper at Glenham High School and upon moving to the Penn Yan area, she worked for Beaumont & Stork Insurance. Later she worked for Doctors Jensen, Berkes & Flynn Surgical Office. She then continued to work for Dr. Berkes when his practice went private and when he relocated his office, she then worked and retired from the Rushville Health Center. She was a very active member of St. Michael’s Church in Penn Yan, serving as an Eucharistic Minister and assisting in the office. She was always doing for others and she even had volunteered at the Clinton Crest Manor in Penn Yan. Dorothy loved being with family the most, specially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Barry; sister, Jean Pasco; brother, Donald West Jr.; and her sons, Thomas Barry and Michael Barry. She is survived by her sisters, Kathy (Kyle) Robinson of Pittsburgh, PA and Bernie (Larry) Sadowski of Joliet, Illinois; her daughter, Maureen (Rob) Osborne; Daughter in Law Jennifer Faber Barry; grandchildren, Rachel Barry, Robbie (Katherine) and Chelsea Osborne, and Michael Thomas Barry; as well as, several beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, Liberty St., Penn Yan on January 8th, 2018 at 11am. Interment in Oswego, NY will be at the convenience of her family. Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to St. Michael’s Church, 210 Keuka St., Penn Yan, NY 14527 or to St. Michael’s School, 214 Keuka St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
