

Louise N. (Hotalen) Lehr passed away on Monday, September 15 at Penn Yan Manor, where she had been a resident for the past three years. She was born in Sandyston Township, NJ on November 4, 1921, to Lesler and Wreath (Major) Hotalen. She attended the local country schools, and was a graduate of Newton, NJ High School, Class of 1940.
Louise lived in NJ for many years before moving to PA after her retirement as a cook at the Columbia Inn, Columbia, NJ. In 2000, she moved to St. Mark’s Terrace in Penn Yan to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.
In her younger years, she enjoyed ceramics classes and cooking. As a resident at the Manor, she loved her “judge shows”, crafts and the weekly visits from the pets. She looked forward to attending the Daily Bread meetings each morning.
Louise is survived by her daughters and their husbands : Vera ( Walter) Shotwell, Penn Yan, Alice Parr (Ron Krikorian), Schnecksville, PA, Barbara (Richard) Deleo, Mt. Bethel, PA; grandchildren Walter (Lauren) Shotwell, Jr., James (JoAnne) Shotwell and Wendy Jones, great grandchildren , great great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.
