Janie "Andmama” Brown gained her Heavenly reward September 7, 2020. She was born March 7, 1940 to Lynton and Julia England. She was proud to be a charter member at Myrtle Grove Methodist and remained a lifelong member. She was a graduate of Pensacola High School and retired from the Escambia county school system.
She loved her church and served it faithfully. She sang in the choirs, worked with the youth group, participated in vacation bible school and was instrumental in the establishment of the Frolic on the Green. She directed at times the youth choirs and served as the interim director of the chancel choir on a number of occasions.
The joy of her life were her grandchildren to them she was affectionately known as Andmama. They enjoyed the many activities and trips she magically transformed into traditions, baking and decorating cookies for almost every holiday, summer beach houses, winter mountain trips, attending the grandkids ball games and even the great grandkids games. She was so proud of all of them.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years William Brown; daughter, Julie Bender (Marty); son, Hobey Brown (Louise); sister, Helen Gordon; sister in laws, Virgie Lambert, Veronica Bourgeoise (Wilton) and Pam Trahan. Her beloved and cherished grandchildren are Rachel Lee (Scott), Will Brown (Rachael), Jennifer Kerbow (Scott), Megan Miller (Michael), Leah Murphy (John), Bart Hulien (Sherry) and Kate Zink (Gary). Her great grandchildren are Camden Lee, Sadie Miller, Zoey Brown, Blake Lee, Lydia Miller, Madi Brown, John Keller Murphy, Brayden Brown, Reese Hulien, Ellie Zink, Charlie Hulien, Jenny Zink and Camille Hulien. She had numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, etc that all loved her dearly.
Pall bearers are Will Brown, Scott Lee, Scott Kerbow, Michael Miller, John Murphy and Shep Jones.
Myrtle Grove United Methodist will host all services in accordance with Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, September 12, 2020, 10:00 am at Myrtle Grove United Methodist. Funeral will begin at 11:00 am and she will be buried immediately following in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery.
