Mrs. Ann Moore Hunt, of Gulf Breeze, FL, was born October 18, 1935, in Fayette, Alabama to Arvil and Ruth Moore. Ann passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Ann grew up on her parents’ farm in Winfield, Alabama and was driving a tractor at the age of 9 to help with the family farm. She graduated from Winfield High School. She also graduated from Florence Teachers College, later named University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in education. She moved to Pensacola, Florida and became a teacher with the Escambia County school district. The School District had a habit of posting a notice in the newspaper of the new teachers. Anns future husband, Bill Hunt, Aunt Dana saw the article, called him, and suggested he reach out to the girl from back home. On their blind date, Bill told her he was going to marry her. This was February 1957. Bill and Ann wed on June 29, 1957, and were married in a small church in Winfield, Alabama.
The following year, Bill and Ann had their first daughter, Elizabeth. Diane followed two years later. At her first doctor’s appointment after Diane, Ann found out she was pregnant with Rebecca. After a year and a half break, Pam came along. The following year Cindy showed up and finally in 1965, Angie was born.
Ann was a stay-at-home mom, but six children and a husband kept her terribly busy. She was a Momager before the term was defined. She juggled the PTA, chauffeuring children to doctors appointments, ensuring homework was done, and the list goes on. She was tough but loving. She loved the garden. If you could not find her cooking in the kitchen, she was typically in the garden tending to her flowers and plant babies.
Ann was instrumental in the success of Bills construction business, Gulf-Atlantic Constructors, Inc. She supported in every way she could and was always his biggest cheerleader.
She volunteered at Baptist Hospital on the maternity ward for over 25 years. She was the ultimate baby whisperer. She not only cared for the newborns, but she cared for the new mothers and taught them her special ways to calm and nurture their babies. Ann also was a volunteer at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. She was the Wedding Coordinator for Dr. Herbert Sadler and made sure all weddings were well planned. She assisted with the Church Newsletter and spent every Thursday organizing the mailings. And she was a member of the Gulf Breeze Garden Club where she cherished friendships and flowers.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband, William Alfred (Bill) Hunt, her mother and father Ruth and Arvil Moore, her sister Pauline Woodard and brother-in-law Bob, her sister-in-law and husband Mary and Neil Applegate, her sister-in-law Dot and James Frye. Ann is survived by her six daughters: Elizabeth Puckett (Bill), Diane Stricklin (Steve), Rebecca Farmer (Danny), Pamela Caddell (Phil), Cynthia Russell (Mike), and Angela Hunt. She had 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her grandsons will be her pallbearers.
The family would like to express our appreciation to Moms special Angels that have cared for her over the past couple of years. Ann was blessed to have Lilly, Tye, and Stacey for over three years. Her other caregivers Claire, Jordan, Becky, and Tiffa also cared for her during this time. People’s Health Services provided her hospice services, and her nurses Hailey, Samantha, and Deanna showed so much love and care for our mother during these last two and a half years.
Visitation will be held at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10 AM. A celebration of life service will be held directly after the visitation. Graveside service for immediate families will take place at Bayview Memorial Park after the service. Bayview Fisher-Pou is entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church or Baptist Healthcare Foundation.
