Betty Peterson Matheson

1931 – 2015

Betty entered eternity peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 03, 2015 in Pensacola, Florida. Betty was born on September 03, 1931 in Jasper County, Missouri to Myrtle Dennis Peterson and Tollie Allen Peterson. Her father was a rural mail carrier and her mother was an avid gardener. Betty had five older brothers, Willard, Raleigh, Robert, William and John.

Betty leaves two daughters, Laurel (Marc) Dinerstein of Woodstock, Georgia and Jennifer (Richard) Hughes of Pensacola, Florida; two sons, Peter (Linda) Matheson of Lewisburg, Tennessee and William Matheson of Pensacola, Florida. She also leaves five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty loved children and loved teaching piano, which she did for 34 years. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama and stalwart “Bama Fan”. Betty also greatly enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs in the area. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pensacola for over 25 years and sang in the choir before she became ill.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 09, 2015 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday.
