Beverly Elaine Brooks received her eternal homecoming on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Born December 30, 1939 and raised in Memphis, TN, she was the youngest of Mabel and Gus Salmon’s four children. One of her early claims to fame was teaching Elvis Presley to dance! At 17 she married the love of her life, Morris, and began a life together that created a lasting legacy of love for her family. Beverly was a Navy wife for 23 years before embarking on her own career as a computer systems analyst at NAS Pensacola. She was also a founding member and faithful servant of Perdido Bay United Methodist Church. Loved by so many, Beverly’s smile, laughter, and generosity will be sorely missed. She was the life of the party and had such a gift of making you feel special.
She was preceded in death by her father Gus Salmon; brother Maurice Salmon; mother Mabel McCauley; sister Carol Godwin; daughter Teresa White; husband Morris Brooks; and brother Vernon Salmon. Survivors include her daughter Melanie Schaubroeck (Rodney); sons Gary Brooks (Susan) and Stephen Brooks (Rachel); ten grandchildren, Tamara, Tina, Michael, Shannon, Caleb, Joshua, Michael, Matthew, Garrett and Mitchell; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and the second love of her life and faithful companion - her dog Lil’ Gus.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned.
