Charles (Charlie) George Donovan Jr. passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2013 at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Charlie was born on August 28, 1962 in Staten Island, New York to his loving parents Charles and Maria Donovan. He graduated from Escambia High School in 1980 and joined the Navy in 1986. He served as a Gas Turbine Systems Mechanic on numerous ships and duty stations throughout the world. He retired in 2006 as Chief Petty Officer and an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. Charlie was an avid fisherman and his passion was being at sea whether it was on a frigate or a fishing boat. His other love was spending time with his beautiful family. Charlie is survived by his wife Teia, his daughter Tianna, sons Josh and Fabian, father Charles and wife Sherry, sisters Maria (Judy), Nancy (Kellye), and brothers John and Joseph. Charlie also leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and a beautiful grandson Dayton. Charlie is preceded in death by his mother Maria P. Donovan. For those of us who loved Charlie, the sun shines a little dimmer, our hearts are a little heavier, and our world has been diminished by his death. Visitation with reception will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 4pm with full military honors. Oak Lawn Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
