Mrs. Gorum was born November 30, 1921 in New Brockton, Alabama to Dennis Clarence Nolin and Lucia Wilson Nolin. She moved to Pensacola in the early 1950’s from Alabama. Mrs. Gorum was the first “Forelady” at Chemstrand (Monsanto/Solutia) Company and retired from there after 20 years of service. She was a member of Ensley Baptist Church in her earlier years in Pensacola, but more recently had been attending Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Gorum loved to sew and had her own label “by Clara”; she also loved to travel with her family and church. She was very proud of her husband’s service during WWII and her son, Dennis’ service during Vietnam and throughout her life she supported many Veterans’ Organizations with donations.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Foster Osgood Gorum; Foster Osgood Gorum, Jr.; brothers, Zin Nolin and his wife Merle, and A.N. Nolin and his wife Jean; and brother-in-law, Dick Wright.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Holley Gorum and wife Marti; brothers, Winford Nolin, his wife Jean and Dewayne Nolin, his wife Anne; sisters, Jewell Wright, Sylvia Upton, her husband Jerome and Jan Valdesuso, her husband Bob; one grandchild, Patrick O’Boyle; and ten nephews, five nieces and many many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Chaplain Charles Melvin officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday at the funeral home.
