Colleen Kimball Myers, born Colleen Adele Kimball on February 16, 1952, in Jennings, Louisiana, passed away on April 5, 2024, at the age of 72 in Pensacola, Florida. Colleen, known for her kind, caring, and adventurous spirit, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.
Growing up in Welsh, Louisiana, she was an outstanding student loved by her teachers and peers. She graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and went on to have a successful career in corporate America. She dedicated four decades to Ethyl/Albemarle Corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, retiring in 2012; her roles in customer service and purchasing showcased her dedication and professionalism. After her retirement, she ventured on to Show Low, Arizona to live near her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren; she loved exploring all of the different parts of Arizona, from the mountains to the desert, and had a particular fondness for Sedona. While she loved the mountains, her heart longed for the sea, leading her back east to the Gulf Coast in 2019; she ultimately lived her final years near the turquoise waters and white sandy beaches of Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Outside of work, Colleen had a wide range of hobbies that brought her joy, including visiting friends and family, traveling, stargazing, barbershop singing, trying new restaurants, geocaching, and exploring nature, especially shelling along the Gulf Coast and painting rocks and seashells. Her friendly nature helped her to find friends very easily in all of the places she called home; her positive energy was truly magnetic.
Colleen will be deeply missed by her daughter Stephanie Myers Player, granddaughter Madison Skye Player, grandson Carl “Cayman” Wyman Player IV, grandson Major John Player, as well as her nieces, nephews, other extended family and in-laws, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Lee and Irene Benoit Kimball, her brother Michael “Mickey” Paul Kimball, and her sister Susan Kimball McCown.
Colleen made it known in her final days that she did not want to have a traditional service or memorial; instead, her family is arranging for private celebrations of life in the many communities that Colleen called home across the years. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or the Salvation Army in memory of Colleen Kimball Myers. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared with all of us.
