He was born in Hampton, Virginia on November 22, 1969. Dan graduated from East Lansing High School in East Lansing, Michigan in 1988 and attended Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Dan enjoyed to travel and worked in the travel industry for many years. He made friends everywhere he went, mainly because of his storytelling ability. He had a special talent for making people laugh in person as well as through his writing, whether he was relating a story about one of his misadventures to friends at the local watering hole or through one of his comedic screenplays. He was an enthusiastic sports fan; he had a talent for knowing all pertinent information for his favorite teams and then some. He also had a trove of musical knowledge and enjoyed a good conversation about his favorite groups. Dan enjoyed bonding with his family and friends over bonfires, barbecues, and fireworks. Dan lived in multiple areas in the United States throughout his life. His favorite destinations were the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Colorado before finally settling in Gulf Breeze, Florida, one of the selling-points being access to the beach where he would often go to write.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel T. Davis Sr. Surviving are his fiancé, Lori Jonio of Gulf Breeze, FL; his mother, Barbara J. Davis of East Lansing, MI; younger sisters, Jennifer (Kenneth) Perrin of Saint Johns, MI, and Madeline (Michael) Nash of Lansing, MI; and nieces, Vivian, Cynthia and Lillian Nash of Lansing, MI.
