Dan attended Clyde High School, where he enjoyed playing the saxophone in band and marching band; and singing in the church choir and a barbershop quartet with brothers. He spent 7 years in the Air Force and Air Guard.
Later in life, he attended the ELKs Club, where he became the Exalted Ruler in Bloomington, IL. He started and ran many businesses. Dan always made time to spend with family, including but not limited to his favorite holidays, Cinco De Mayo, The Fourth of July, and the day of his death: Easter Sunday, 4/20. Committed to his family, he spent much time researching genealogy and took great pride in his Mexican American heritage. Dan also enjoyed golf and traveling with his family or by motorcycle, reaching all 48 contiguous states. Not a day went by when he wasn't reaching out to family, laughing, helping someone, telling a funny story or joke, or being a friend. He was truly one of a kind. Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Preceded by death, Clifford and Otila (father and mother), Wayne (brother), Alvin (brother), Chalmer (brother), and Zane (grandson).
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Henry) Kohlenberg, and children Adam (Sara), Michael (Sandra), Emma, and Maiya. Also, his grandchildren Zaiden, Zachary, Zander, Zavier, Maverick, and Atlas. Also his siblings, Dalton (brother), and Brenda (sister).
