

David was born in July 1930 in Douglas, South Carolina. After graduating from Hebron High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as an Aerographers Mate for 24 years. Dave was married to Alice Gloria Russell for 51 years and together they raised 3 children while traveling around the world to Navy duty stations at Weeksville, NC; Corry Station Pensacola, FL; San Diego, CA; Meridian, MS; Brunswick, GA; Port Lyautey Morocco; and Sangley Point Philippines. Dave served aboard the USS Cabot (CVL-28), USS Hornet (CV-12), and USS Lexington (CV-2). He ended his military career at NAS Pensacola, FL, where he retired from active duty as a Senior Chief in 1971, and subsequently continued his weather forecasting career as a civil servant at NAS Pensacola, retiring in 1994. Dave was a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 22, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 2108, Naval Weather Service Association, and VFW. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, spending time with family and friends and was passionate about playing golf.
Dave is survived by his wife of 17 years and travel buddy, Jane, son Michael Driggers (Denise), daughters Kathleen Bixel (Gil) and Christine Nicholson (Jack), stepson Steve Bradshaw (Sharon), brother Milton Driggers (Rita Kay), sister Margaret Tucker, grandchildren Michael, Kylie and Matthew, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alice, brother Tony Driggers and stepson Michael Bradshaw.

A Visitation for David will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 9:45 am at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, immediately following the visitation will be a graveside service from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at Barrancas National Cemetery.
