Dewey leaves behind a busy and proud legacy and lifetime commitment to family, friends and the community. Dewey served proudly in the United States Navy Reserves as a Sonar Technician from 1980 to his retirement in 2002. Dewey attended Pensacola Junior/State College and attained an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 1989. He also worked for Pensacola Junior/State College from 1987 to 1994 before moving to the Escambia County School District Central Stores Warehouse from 1994 to 2019. Dewey worked his way at the School District from Central Stores Warehouse Storekeeper to Central Stores Warehouse Manager before his retirement from Escambia County School District in 2019. After retirement Dewey went to work for Lowe's Home Improvement on Fairfield Drive in Pensacola from 2020 to 2022. Dewey evaluated stamp collections part-time for almost twenty years at Martin A. Hinote Coins, Stamps and Jewelry and served as the face of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers' Association as the Gaze Coordinator where he scheduled and set up star gazes for the community. He was tireless and passionate in his efforts to share his love for the stars with no matter what day or time if he could fit it into his busy schedule.
Dewey is survived by his soulmate and loving wife, Ella Barker; his goddaughter/daughter, Tyler (John Boykin) Davis;godsons, Sebastian Davis and Sylas Davis-Boykin; goddaughter, Shaunta Daniels; goddaughter, LaDaysia Daniels; godson LaDarius Daniels; sister, Victoria Rock of Lakeland, Florida; niece, Jessica (Jonathan) White of Lakeland, Florida; great nieces, Autumn, Samantha, McKenzie, and Aryia White; nephew, Ace Cameron of Morehead, Minnesota.
Dewey is preceded in death by his mother Verna Russo Barker and father Ralph Deward Barker.
