Doris S Vernon

Doris was born September 29, 1934 in Brewton, AL to Elvin H. and Clodie Mae Smith. She was a member of Plainview Baptist Church. She spent 69 wonderful years by the side of her husband, Edwin L. Vernon. During that time, she was a devoted and loving homemaker, mother, and grandmother—or “Grandmom” as she preferred to be called.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ed, a daughter Jackie Vernon, and a son, Doug Vernon.

She is survived by a son, Mike Vernon(Denise) and the absolute love and focus of her life, granddaughter Courtney Vernon, all of Pensacola. In addition she is also survived by her sister, Ann Smith Tabb, Bay Minette, AL.

A visitation for Doris will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534, on February 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location, starting at 12:00 pm.
