Ernest, also known as Sonny, was born February 26,1934 in Pensacola, Florida to the late Ernest Wilson Waldrop Sr. and Ethleen (White) Waldrop. He was the oldest son of 14 children. He attended Tate High School, where he met the love of his life, Mavis Pauline (Jennings). They married May 26, 1951. He was a tile setter by trade and loved camping and fishing. He played guitar and sang when family gathered. He was a long time member of the Ensley Masonic Lodge.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Randolph (Randy) Waldrop, sisters Bernice Kimbrough, Margie Waldrop and Ruby Williams, and brothers Rayfield, James, Bobby, David, Gene, Rocky and Percy Waldrop.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 70 yrs, Pauline Waldrop, his daughters Rita Simon and Phyllis Dubose (Danny), brothers Willard Waldrop (Joyce) , Lloyd Waldrop (Jenny), and sister Linda Lister.
