George St. Aubin, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1954, George grew up in Little Chute and lived a life full of adventure, humor, and curiosity.
A proud graduate of Marquette University, George joined the U.S. Navy as an officer and became a helicopter pilot. After his military service, he built a successful career as a real estate broker. In his later years, he became an auctioneer and found value in collecting unique treasures.
George had a sharp wit, an extremely intelligent and curious mind, and a knack for storytelling that made his personality anything but ordinary. To meet him was to remember him—his larger-than-life presence, quick humor, and insightful conversations left a lasting impression. He loved fishing, a good road trip, gardening, and searching for the perfect gemstone. He enjoyed winning at poker and cribbage, and he was a lifelong fan of Marquette basketball and the Green Bay Packers.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia St. Aubin, his brother, Billy St. Aubin, his beloved Uncle Bill, and “Packer Mom” Phylis Reid. He is survived by his children, Nicole St. Aubin and Javier Benavente, and Christine Laughlin; his granddaughters, Violet and Victoria Benavente; his brothers, Timothy, Vernon (Wendy), Donald (Linda) and Harry; beloved nieces and nephews; and honorary family members, Chris “Badger,” Todd, and Beth Williams.
True to his style, there will be no formal service. His memory will live on fishing at the family cottage on St. Aubin Lane—pole in hand and fish on the line—where he always said he was happiest.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredible nurses, doctors, and staff at the VA and local hospitals who cared for George in his final years. True to his charming nature, he kept them entertained with stories and proudly shared photos of his beloved granddaughters. Their kindness, patience, and compassion will never be forgotten.
He wouldn’t have liked a typical obituary, so we’ll leave it at this: George St. Aubin lived life his way—with humor, grit, and a good story always ready to tell. His sharp mind and curiosity outlasted his body, and even in his final weeks, he was chasing new adventures and dreaming up his next big project. Forever a child at heart, we like to imagine he’s now in a place where his body keeps up with his spirit—fishing, exploring, and doing everything he wished he could in the end. And if there’s a tackle shop or an antique shop in heaven, you can bet he’s already found it.
