Gerald R. Estridge Sr.

1937 – 2015

Gerald Ray Estridge Sr., 78, of Pensacola, FL went to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 15, 2015.

Mr. Estridge was born May 05, 1937 in Monroe, NC, to George Washington Estridge and Lessie Plyer Estridge. Mr. Estridge joined the National Guard in 1955 and served until transferring to the U.S. Navy in 1958, retiring after 20 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Estridge; sons, Gerald R. Estridge, Jr. and David Wayne Estridge; parents; brothers, Roland Estridge, George Estridge, Jr. and Lee Estridge; and sister, Mildred Self.

Survivors include his children, Joseph C. Estridge (Victoria), Nereus G. Estridge (Leslie), Deborah D. Grimes (Mark), Patricia A. Thompson and Pamela J. Austin (Michael); brother, Boyce Estridge; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his babies, Chico and Jose.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Pastor Joe Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Tassin, Tyler Tassin, Jarrett Estridge, Michael Estridge, Chris Estridge, Ryan Childers and Chase Childers. Honorary pallbearers will be, Kevin Estridge, Robert Baker and Charles Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
