J T "Pete" Dawson

1949 – 2010

Pete Dawson, age 60, of Pensacola, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at home with family around him, after a short battle with cancer.

He was a member of East Brent Baptist Church. Pete was a commercial shrimper all of his adult life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. The legacy he leaves behind for his children and grandchildren is the goodness of his name.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Myrtle Dawson; son, John Dawson; brother, Bill Dawson; sisters, Delores Hughey and Peggy Aiken.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Susie Dawson; daughters, Carrie Brown (Jonathan) of Ashville, North Carolina and Lauren Dawson of Pensacola; brother, Earl Dawson (Linda); sister, Ruth Taylor (AL); his grandchildren, Chandler, Connor, Campbell and Carson Brown and Kaelynn Dawson; aunt, Pansy Dennis; and sister-in-law, Ursell Farrington; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
