
.JAMES EARL BLOCKER SR, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in St Petersburg, FL. Previously a forty-four year resident of Cerny Road in Pensacola, Mr. Blocker had spent his last six years residing in the Masonic Home of Florida in St. Petersburg. He was born November 27, 1925 in Covington County, Alabama. Some knew him as Earl, some knew him as Jim…..we lovingly called him “Pop”. 1-4-3
He was preceded in death by Pauline, his wife of 45 years; and then Elizabeth Joan, his wife of 15 years; and by James Earl Jr, his son. Survivors include his brother, C. Bearl Blocker; sister, Betty Bulger; daughters, Shirley Blocker of Pensacola, Sally Marabella of Ayden, NC, Pamela Lehman of Darien, WI; and daughter-in-law Ruth Blocker, Patterson, LA. He is also survived by 3 granddaughters - Angela Carpenter, Michelle Leger and Stephanie Wojcik; 4 grandsons - Danny Blocker, Roland Blocker, Timothy LaRock, Jesse Marabella; 3 great-granddaughters - Kristi Cantrell, Alicia Blocker, Kylara LaRock; 4 great-grandsons - Aaron Blocker, Nikon Leger, Riley Blocker, Ridge Blocker and 1 great-great-grandson, Skyler Babcock.
A veteran of WWII, Mr. Blocker began his career in the United States Navy aboard USS Augusta off the coast of Southern France and retired as a Chief Petty Officer at NAS Ellyson Field in Pensacola. He had also retired from a second career at American Cyanamid. Jim Blocker had belonged to Branch 22 of the Fleet Reserve since the early 1970’s and was a long-term member of Naval Lodge #24 F & AM. On Friday, December 3rd visitation for family and friends will be held 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, New Warrington Rd. A procession will leave Oak Lawn for a two o’clock Graveside service with both Masonic and Military Honors to be conducted at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to hospice in Jim Blocker's memory.
