Jim and I were classmates in pilot training at Moody AFB GA.  He was a good friend, a good officer and a good man.  One favorite memory:  A few years later I made an emergency landing at Columbus AFB and called  Jim, who graciously invited me to his home.  Amy spontaneously  made a great dinner and together we shared a warm and memorable evening.  I followed his career, including his service as a Forward Air Controller in Southeast Asia, where he consistently proved his bravery, patriotism and devotion to service.
America could benefit from more men like Jim 'Pee Wee' Cain.

Met Jim Cain when I arrived at Robins AFB as a brand new Co-Pilot in Nov, 1977.  He was a great Ops Officer and would never ask you to do something he wouldn't do himself.  I remember his departure to go to CEVG and I left for Andersen shortly after that and upgraded to Aircraft Commander en route to Guam.  Sure enough a few months after my arrival CEVG shows up and guess who was part of the team?  Good old Pee Wee Cain.  
The world was certainly a better place having him around.  My condolences to all of his family and friends.  

Was fortunate to call him Dad, he was everything. He showed me the way, every single day, until the end. I already miss my evening hours with him, smoking a cigar, and talking about anything and everything. RIP Dad.

We will truly miss PeeWee and also Amy's passing not so long ago.
We got to share our home with him for a short while when they were leaving Barksdale AFB to retire in Pensacola - He had a lot of adventures he shared.

Pee Wee first joined our 736th Bomb Sq B-52F crew E-04 at Columbus AFB, MS in early 1964. He and I became fast friends. We had a lot of fun on that crew. He left to go do his "secret" thing and I stayed in B-52s.  As our careers progressed, we would bump into each other at different places and rejoice in renewing our friendship. 
Pee Wee was not only a true warrior but a compassionate man and devoted family man. He was the type of man you knew you could count on if you ever needed help. He was a good man who comes along once in a long, long time.  Rest in  peace my brother. God Bless you. 

Pee Wee was my first co-pilot as a young gunner at Columbus AFB in the early 60's. He was a great man and fellow crew member. I have many memories of our time together on crew and am better for having known him. He will be missed.

Colonel Cain was one of the finest officers I ever worked for in or out of SAC.  He was a fair and honest man who I would have walked into Hell itself on his orders.  My deepest condolences to his family.  

I was fortunate to be a young Captain  when Jim was Ops Officer of the 28th Bomb Squadron.  He was an excellent leader and role model for us youngsters. Rest In Peace and thank you for your service. He lives in our memories

I met Jim when we were both stationed at Robins AFB (1974-1979). He was a great Ops Officer and mentor for young officers. He made a good officer and aircraft commander out of smart aleck young punk and I appreciate the lessons to this day! I will miss him!

Jim was my very first crew commander at Castle AFB and Robins AFB. He was already a major when we met. He taught a brand new butter bar lieutenant navigator an awful lot about the Air Force. Things I needed to know at the start of my career and things I have carried with me even after I retired. I regret that we had little contact after Robins, but Melinda and I will miss him and are very sorry for your loss. RIP, man.
