Jim was a hard-working man that always gave 100 percent in everything that he did. He was a loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. Jim was also a huge advocate for the military and a patriot to his country. He always enjoyed a good day fishing on the water or a day at the range. Jim was never a shy man, and you could always find him conversing with anyone who would listen. This is what made Jim so special!
He is survived by his stepmother, Tina Cathey; sister, Geralyn Cathey Allegood; brother, Mike Cathey; son, Kyle Cathey; son, Lance Dettmann; daughter, Lorene Watts; and grandchildren, Ashley, Natalie, Harper, Claire, and Colin.
Jim was deeply loved by his children, grandchildren, and anyone who came in contact with him. He will be greatly missed by all.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bayview Memorial Park at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 08, 2022, in the Mausoleum at the center/back of the cemetery. A Celebration of Life, “chicken taco” bar (Jim’s favorite), will follow in Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel at the conclusion of his memorial.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be submitted in Jim’s name to any Veterans’ organizations of your choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oaklawnfunerals.com for the Cathey family.
