James Andrew Scoggins III (Jimbo) passed away on January 24,2025. He was born on September 17, 1938 in Columbia, Tennessee. He grew up in Pensacola and attended local schools. After graduating from Columbia Military Academy, he attended University of Florida and transferred to University of Alabama, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
After college graduation, he began a career as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and later discovered his passion for commercial real estate. He built Bogies on Pensacola Beach and later developed Charleston Manor, Jefferson Park, Lenox, Beaulin and Chasefield. Prior to retiring, he owned Scoggins III, a commercial real estate company.
Jimbo was a member of Pensacola Yacht Club and various civic organizations, including Rotary Club and Seville Sertoma, where he met his future wife Linda, who he called “Precious”and “P-1”. They were married in Sky Valley, Georgia on September 23, 2000. Every year Jimbo and Linda returned to Sky Valley to vacation with their large group of friends.
Jimbo loved playing tennis, golfing, traveling, gardening and everything University of Alabama .

He is preceded in death by his father, James A. Scoggins Jr., mother, Sara (Tinka) Richardson, and brother-in-law Dr. Charles (Chuck) Riley. He is survived by his wife, Linda Barnett Scoggins, step-daughters Lori (Mark) Boughton and Keri Langlinais, grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Giffin, Chris (Bethany) Cassani, Ryan Langlinais, Chase Langlinais, great-grandchildren Lauren and Brooklyn Giffin, his sister Suzanne Riley, brother Will (Heather) Scoggins, nephews Houston and Michael Riley.
While he was known as “Jimbo” to most, he was “Mr. Wonderful” to family, and “Cookie Monster” to his great-grandchildren,
A celebration of life will be held on February 10, 2025 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Visitation at 11:00
a.m. services at 12 p.m. with a reception following.
