

Jan was born in Houma, LA to the late C. Francis Pye and Devota Broussard Pye on February 25th, 1947.
Upon graduation from Nicholls State University, Jan first taught junior high school students in Alabama and then moved to Pensacola to work as a dietician. She settled back in Pensacola with her husband Mike in 1996, after a career in government service with work in Germany and Washington DC.
Although she stood only 5 foot tall, she lived a big life. Jan was a loving wife, sister, aunt, friend, and cook of fabulous Cajun meals. She was an active member of the Pensacola Rose Society.
She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Michael L. Caruso, and his family. She is also survived by her siblings: Diane Roche (the late Randy), Helen Pye, JoAnn Titus (Larry), Louise Pye Pertuit (Ronnie), Grace Hawkins (Ken), Richard Pye (Judy), and John Pye (Barbara). She loved her numerous nieces & nephews dearly, as well as her many grand and great nieces & nephews.
Many thanks to all her extended family and friends and who have kept her in their thoughts and prayers. She loved and valued all of you.
A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Saturday, December 19th at Bayview Fischer-Pou Chapel & Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Hwy, Pensacola. There will be a special blessing during the visitation from 5:30-6pm by Father Nick Schumm.
A Christmas Day mass at 8am will be dedicated to Jan at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 3295 Barrancas Ave, Pensacola. Jan will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Jan’s family is requesting that those who attend the services please wear a face mask, adhere to social distancing, and refrain from hugging the bereaved.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donation to a charity of your choice in Jan’s name.
