Jerome Thomas Stehlik (Tom) passed away peacefully on June 3, 2011 in Pensacola Florida. Born in Chicago, Illinois on January 29th, 1942, Tom married his love of 41 years, Nancy Anne Simons, before moving to Peshtigo, Wisconsin to raise a family. Tom was a gifted entrepreneur and business man who began and operated two successful restaurants, The Spot and The Dome Cabaret for nearly 23 years. Tom lived by his motto “you work hard and play hard”, which allowed him to retire at the age of 50. Upon retirement, Tom and Nancy enjoyed life by spending time in Wisconsin on his boat “The Beezy”, traveling across the country to visit friends, and being “snow birds” in Gulf Shores until 1999 when he and Nancy settled in Pensacola. Throughout his life, Tom remained active in many civic organizations such as the Am Vets, American Legion, Moose Lodge, and Elks.
Tom was a loving father, whose pride were his two sons, Michael (Leigh) and Jim (Kelly) who he cherished spending time with on fishing trips to Mexico, Chicago Cubs games, the Indianapolis 500, the Kentucky Derby, Notre Dame and Florida State Bowl games, or just talking business. “Papa” had a special place in his heart for his five grandchildren, Abby, Kaitlyn, Thomas, Cecelia, and Andrew, with whom he shared his love of fishing and a deep respect for nature and animals.
Tom enjoyed playing all types of card games, particularly cribbage, and began a grass roots cribbage club in Pensacola where he truly enjoyed playing with his friends each week.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola Florida, 32506 at 6:30 pm, with visitation from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 7th.
