He was a long time commercial fisherman and enjoyed his role as Snapper Boat Captain of the Gulf Queen boat.
Joey was preceded in death by his father, Paul Joseph Mitchem; and son, Joseph Mitchem.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Fawn Mitchem; son, Joshua Mitchem; mother, Bobbie Caskey; two grandchildren, Raven Michaela Mitchem (4 years old), and Milo Mitchem (6 months old).
