LCMDR John F. Rowles III (Jack) passed on September 13, 2025 in Baptist Hospital of Gulf Breeze, FL. His passing was peaceful and a result of a cumulation of various medical conditions. He had a long and storied life with a large part of that life being in Pensacola, FL. He served in the United States Navy, attending flight school at NAS Pensacola. Born in Elmira, N.Y. Jack joined the Navy in 1955. His first assignment was the USS Wasp. Jack met and married Geraldine A. Miles (Jerry) while attending flight school in Pensacola, FL. They were married 59 years with her passing October 16, 2018. Once married, they traveled the U.S. following Jack’s Navy assignments until eventually retiring in Pensacola, FL. Jack was a member of the Pensacola Model Railroad Club, the British Car Club and the Gulf Coast Regional Mustang Club.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Cheryl; son, John; grandchildren: Renee, Jason, Kimberly, Erica, and Taylor.
Jack’s ashes will be inurned at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors 2:00 pm Friday, January 16, 2026. This ceremony is open to all who knew him and want to attend for a final farewell.
