Joseph Weedo soared on eagle's wings to heaven on August 15, 2014. His final days were spent surrounded by his family reminiscing just how he has touched our lives.
Joe was born in Passaic, NJ, on October 5, 1930. He entered the US Navy when he was 17 years old. His first duty station was Pensacola where he went on a blind date with Beth Pickering and they fell madly in love. After many porch swing meetings, a marriage proposal was made and accepted. Joe and Beth were married on June 9, 1950. It has been the most interesting 64 years of life.
After duty stations all over the globe, Joe was sent to Vietnam. His bravery in the Vietnam War earned him many awards, most notably the Bronze star. He was a cryptologist and served his country well for twenty years, with nine years devoted to the United States Navy. Upon retiring from the United States Air Force, he poured his heart out for his country once again by serving in the United States Post Office for twenty years. A few months later, it was evident that retirement life was not for Joe, so he and his son Jody opened a satellite post office at the request of the USPS. He was a faithful member of Spanish Trail Baptist Church.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Beth (Mary) Weedo. His happiest moments were when he was surrounded by his family and children of all ages. His home was known as the Weedo Boarding House where all children were welcomed with open arms. Gilligan's Island was promised, Mrs. Phelps was tormented, and let's not discuss the shaving cream blues.
His precious grandson Kody Weedo predeceases him. He is survived by his dear wife Beth, his beloved son Jody and his wife Lori, his doting granddaughter Kayla, his loving daughter Becky and her husband Allen, his grandchildren Craig and Daytona, his special nephew Tim Barnes and his wife, Jerri, along with their three children Joshua, Joel, and Jonah, his sister Louise Weedo from Clifton, NJ, numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
